Part III: A Psychonaut’s Guide to the Invisible Landscape: Parting Words, Parting Sorrows

The book is at its best when, instead of merely being a log of his trips, the author expounds on their philosophical and spiritual implications. In other words, What does it all mean?

While he does get into this a bit, occasionally using quantum physics to help makes sense of the experience, unfortunately this book is more of a collection of trip reports, like those found on Erowid, rather than a full book about what he learned.

Near the end, he boldly writes that “exploration with psychedelics must be the exploration of death in the final outcome,” and tops it off by saying that “my approach has been absolutely spiritual despite its appearance to some.”

Sorry, I usually don’t post stuff like this but this one was just too funny!

A police officer calls 911 believing he and his wife are dying after eating pot brownies.

Rob Bryanton, author of Imagining the 10th Dimension, visits Dreaming Life!

Rob Bryanton's Imagining The 10th Dimension There’s a lot of buzz surrounding a new book out there called Imagining The 10th Dimension. Singer / songwriter, thinker, philosopher and amateur scientist (although he insists he’s not a scientist!) has pieced together a means of actually explaining a way to understand the idea of not just 4 or 5 dimensions, but 10. (10 dimensions is the magic number lately since String Theory posits there are 10 dimensions.) His animation explaining the 10 dimensions has been widely viewed on the internet and has propelled his book to the spotlight. His book was recently the subject of an article in What is Enlightenment magazine.

Rob was kind enough to chat with me via email and answer some questions I had after reading the book and that’s what I’m here to bring you today.

Part 4 : An Interview with Rob Bryanton of Imagining the 10th Dimension - drugs and the tenth dimension

Rob BryantonThe forum on your website has a section devoted to altered states and the use of psychoactive substances. Why do you think so many people make the connection between the ideas in your book and the altered states available to us through drug use? What role, if any, has the use of psychoactive substances played in the formulation of your ideas about reality and the 10 dimensions?

Mind Machine + Marijuana = Marvelous

April 17, 2007 on 7:16 pm | In Sound and Light Machines, Drugs | 3 Comments

eye I am in the mind machineGetting high and taking in a session with my sound and light machine – also somewhat dramatically called a mind machine – is something I’ve been meaning to do for months.

I finally got around to doing it a few nights ago. I took 3 or 4 bong hits, one after another, and then went into my bedroom and put on my Sirius Sound and Light Machine. I selected a 20 minute session called “Visualization”, whose description promises to go through a sweeping series of light and frequencies designed to induce a visually-oriented experience.

The result was a very intense, almost overwhelming, 20 minutes of crazy visuals and sensations.

Chacruna Report by Juan from DreamMagick

April 13, 2007 on 9:58 pm | In Lucid Dreaming, Lucid Dreaming Aids, Shamanism, Drugs | 2 Comments

Here is another guest post by Juan from Dream Magick on his experiences in Peru. This could be the last addition by Juan to Dreaming Life as he has recently set up his own website to publish his writing himself! Please check out his site at http://www.dreammagick.com.

Hello everyone!

Since coming back from Peru I have had many opportunities to work with plant teachers here in Mexico. Sometime in March I plan to go to Oaxaca, MX to work with mushrooms and salvia. The mushrooms called derrumbes start to show up in March sometime so I have been doing alot of writing while waiting for this time to come.

I finally have finished the chacruna report of my last diet in Peru which is posted below.

Cheers!
Juan
