I once had an LD where I was at my uncles farm. Those smells come through just like in reality. The power of the brain to recreate these experiences never fails to amaze me! I think that if your brain already knows what certain foods taste like, it's not likely that it will forget in the dream state, since you have complete access to the subconscious and to memories in dreams. In my experience, it tasted fairly normal. I'd guess that it was because that's what I expected it to taste like though.
